Independent Research & Policy Analysis
Evidence-led. Independent. Neutral.
Providing independent research and policy analysis designed to support informed public debate, scrutiny, and decision-making. All work is conducted on a strictly non-partisan basis, with a clear separation between evidence, analysis, and opinion.
This service is intended for those who require clarity on complex or contested issues, rather than advocacy for a predetermined position.
What I Do
I produce clear, structured research outputs that help readers:
- Understand the factual and legal context of an issue
- Identify areas of agreement, dispute, and uncertainty
- Assess the strength and limits of available evidence
- Anticipate counter-arguments, risks, and implications
The emphasis is on intellectual honesty, transparency, and usability.
Areas of Focus
My work commonly addresses issues relating to:
- UK governance, accountability, and use of executive power
- Public policy design, implementation, and impact
- Civil liberties, equality under the law, and freedom of expression
- Policing, criminal justice, and enforcement policy
- Social policy and community impact
Research may be contemporary or historical, where relevant to current policy questions.
How the Work Is Used
Research outputs are designed to be practical and adaptable. They are used by:
- Members of Parliament and parliamentary staff
- Local councillors and public officials
- Journalists and editors
- Civil society organisations and campaign groups
- Academics, students, and independent researchers
Documents are written in neutral language and structured to support citation, briefing, or further analysis.

Commissioned Research and Enquiries
I also undertake commissioned research on a case-by-case basis where the scope, purpose, and ethical framework are clearly defined.
Commissioned work may include:
- Briefing notes on specific policy or legal questions
- Evidence reviews and source verification
- Comparative policy analysis
- Counter-argument and risk assessment
Requests requiring predetermined conclusions or advocacy are not accepted.
→ Make a research enquiry
Principles and Safeguards
All work is governed by the following principles:
- Independence from party-political or ideological affiliation
- Transparency of sources, assumptions, and limitations
- Clear distinction between fact, analysis, and opinion
- Respect for confidentiality where agreed
These safeguards exist to ensure credibility and trust.
This site provides research and analysis only. It does not offer legal advice, lobbying, or political campaigning services. All research and analysis is provided in good faith and is, to the best of the author's knowledge, accurate at the time of submission.
